My Favourite Foundations! Cheap and Cheerful!

Now I feel this is a post that every beauty blogger has to cover and why not today! With the weather we're getting at the moment you never know what you're going to face outside so a good foundation is a must! Over the years I've been through them all, the good, the bad and the very very ugly so I'm here to give you my favourites! I'm going to keep this list to cheap foundations cause in all honestly the more I get to know makeup the more I see money does not always get you quality! Now of course I still love my high end makeup for many reasons but I really think if you do a bit of digging you can find a cheap alternative that will work wonders for you! Also, this is not an ad for L'oreal, I genuinely love their products and believe they are the best brand out there ( yes even better than Mac, Charlotte Tilbury etc.)! Every brand has duds, it's just the way the world works but L'oreal in my opinion is the brand with the least duds and most amazing products!

1) L'oreal True Match
My number 1, ride or die foundation! I stand by my statement that this foundation literally works for everyone! First of all it comes in 23 shades which to anyone who struggles with finding their colour (super pale or dark) knows is an absolute God send. Your skin but better is what I would say to describe this foundation, I know we all love our mega coverage and layers of slap but trust me when you find a foundation that makes your skin actually look good you'll realise all those layers aren't necessary anymore! True Match is also really perfect for mature skin as it's super light in texture so isn't going to settle into fine lines, it's just going to make your skin appear radiant. If you need a new foundation just give it a try and I promise you won't regret it and if you don't like it, well, I'll show you how to apply it properly!!

2) L'oreal 24hr Infallible Matte
So when a lot of people hear the word matte they stay away from a product but in my opinion matte foundations are fantastic! The trend at the moment is to have super highlighted glowing skin and I love that, but when you use a foundation that gives you a dewy glow and then put a highlighter over, things can start looking a little sweaty! Now I will never recommend anyone to leave a foundation on their skin for 24hrs but I'll admit I have a few times in my life, for research reasons of course *cough cough*. This foundation DOES last 24hrs, trust me you have to scrape of off with a knife and then you'll still have some left over, but don't get me wrong, you'd barely notice this was on your face for the rest of the day! Now they say this is waterproof which is interesting but I've never tested, I'm going to test it this year on holidays though and get back to you cause I think If a foundation actually is waterproof that's something people need to know! One last thing I want to say about this foundation is that yes it is matte but no it's not going to look cakey, I hate cakey foundation with an absolute passion so trust me it's NOT cakey!!

3) L'oreal Nude Magique Cushion
This foundation is relatively new to the L'oreal range and completely new to the makeup scene! Cushion foundations started in Japan, where all awesome things start and eventually make their way to us! I went in with the same mid set as most people thinking 'this is a gimmick' but I love it! Now it only comes in 7 shades which upsets me but it's new so I'm hoping the range will expand with time! I didn't go into detail on how to use the other foundations cause they're liquid so it's pretty basic but I will tell you how this works! So you just push the applicator that comes with it into the cushion sponge and out comes the foundation, you then tap it onto your face, not rub (never rub any type of foundation on, you always want to tap to build coverage! otherwise your just dragging it around your face) , tap! Tap a little for sheer coverage and tap a lot for medium to full coverage! Simple enough right! This like all L'oreal foundations has a beautiful your skin but better look so is perfect for everyone! Every review I read about this product people are saying the same thing 'I didn't expect this to work but wow' so that really tells you enough! Also like most L'oreal foundations it has an spf if 25!

I hope you all really enjoyed this post and as always if you have any questions, queries or just want to say hello pop over to my Facebook , Twitter or Instagram ! I would also LOVE to know all your favourite foundations so please let me know!
See ya next time,

May Beauty/Makeup Wish List!

So with the success of my 'May Fashion Wish List' I decided to do a beauty wish list too since there is always a million and one different beauty and makeup products I want to try out every couple of weeks!

1) Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil - This stuff has been hyped to the max! The first person I heard talking about it was none other than Fleur DeForce ( if you don't watch her YouTube videos then do!! ) and she was raving about it! From then on I've heard everyone and their mother on about this stuff and I'd love to give a serum a go as I never have! It's not a cheap one so I don't see myself having it anytime soon but perfect for the wish list! Buy It Here! for £85 which is about €107 eeep!

2) La Roche Posay Rosalic collection - This stuff is formulated for skin that is prone to redness which if you've seen my older posts you know I have! I've heard The Makeup Fairy (Joanne Larby) talk about this stuff and I really trust her opinion so would love to give it a go! Buy It Here! Prices range from €15-23!

3) The Body Shop Coconut Shimmer Body Butter - I've heard only wonderful things about this product from so many different bloggers and gurus and the main one being Rosie Connolly! She uses it over her tan and having seen her in real life I can tell you this stuff gives a really luxurious glow to the skin! I do love my Coco Brown Golden Goddess Oil but I find the oil makes my tan wear away a lot faster than it should! Moisturisers are what keep tan looking fresher for longer so one that also gives me a shimmer is going to be right down my alley! Buy It Here!  for €20.95!

4) Creme De La Mer The Eye Concentrate - Now I know you're all thinking why put creme de la mer in no one can afford that and I know I definitely can't afford it but I've heard Pippa O'Conner and so many others talk about this stuff I just had to throw it in! It looks so luxurious and is really meant to help with dark circles which are my nemesis! Now of course I'll be sticking with my simple eye cream for now ( which I love), but if someday this stuff comes into my life I'll be far from devastated! Buy It Here! for a whopping €175!

1) Urban Decay Alice In Wonderland Palette - As I write this, this majestic palette is launching in 7 hours and oh what I wouldn't do for one! Yes there has been a lot of hype and that's probably why I want it so much but the packaging and the shades, it's all so gorgeous! The official price isn't on the website yet but from what I've heard it's going to be €45! Buy It Here!

2) Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer - So I saw Marissa Carter using this stuff yesterday on her snapchat and I've been thinking about it ever since! Marissa like myself has quite dark circles (no shade being thrown) and I really was 'Amazed' by how this concealer covered them up! When I did more research on this stuff it's won a crazy amount of awards and can now be bought on Irish Websites, yay! Buy It Here! for the reduced price of €32.29! Don't know how long that offer is going to last!

3) Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick - These liquid lipsticks are not anything new to the makeup scene having been around for the last year or so and since the moment they were released there has been crazy hype! If you don't know Jeffree himself you should go have a look on his YouTube channel cause he is a makeup genius and amazing drag queen! Personally I want all these lipsticks but I'd settle for just 'I'm Nude' and 'Celebrity Skin' which are both always sold out! Buy or Have a look at the line here!  the lipsticks are about €16 each!

4) Urban Decay Beached Bronzer  - What is it about matte bronzers? They are all we want but can be extremely hard to find! But good ole Urban Decay have come out with two new matte bronzers in their summer collection and I'm in love! They are two gorgeous shades whether you want a subtle bronze or something a little more intense depending on your skin colour! These are not yet on the debenhams website for some reason but should be retailing at about €25 when they are! If you can't wait til they get here Buy Them Here but shipping from America is probably going to cost you a pretty penny!

Makeup Essentials for All Skin Types and Issues! Part 3: Mature Skin!

What Has Happened My Skin?

With age, the skin will lose firmness and elasticity, and may feel looser and thinner, this is nothing to worry about though as there are so many makeup products out there that work perfectly on these issues and will have your skin looking great again! The change in texture of the skin may cause the appearance of fine lines, and less definition of the contours of the face. Your skin may become dry as the sebaceous glands (oil glands) become less active. As the skin may become thinner, it can start to  look almost transparent in some areas such as, around the eyes small capillaries can show through the skin. Waste products are removed less quickly than in young skin, and this leads to puffiness of the skin particularly around the eyes. Patches of irregular pigmentation may appear on the surface of the skin such as lentigo ( dark patches) and chloasma (hyper pigmentation). If you are experiencing any or all of these issues then I have the solutions for you!!

Ageing isn't a walk in the park and when it comes to makeup it changes everything you thought you knew about your face! It doesn't last as long, it creases everywhere, makes fine lines look ten times worse and it seems to just slide off your face if you get even a small bit warm! Don't worry though makeup companies know this and have formulated products that really help and make life a lot easier!

CORRECTION CREAMS
If you're dealing with increased redness, dark spots or dark under eye circles you can be sure there is a correction cream for you! These are applied before your primer and foundation and just balance all the colours on your face so you look even, even before you apply foundation! If you are having trouble with redness or dark spots I would recommend Max Factors Colour Correction Stick's. The green one is for redness and the purple one for dark spots or under eye circles! Max Factor is available in boots and online, this product is €13.45.

PRIMER
Primer is what you're going to need to keep that makeup set on your face all day! The Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer is the one you're gonna want! The antioxidants grapeseed and green tea help minimize fine lines, while the velvety finish ensures that makeup glides on evenly and lasts all day.

FOUNDATION
When looking for a foundation you want to avoid anything thick as it's just going to set into any fine lines and make them appear much worse than they are! A light foundation is the way to go as you won't look caked and and your skin will appear fresh and radiant! The perfect foundation for this would have to be the new Bourjois City Radiance foundation, there is a lot of hype about this foundation at the moment and for good reason, it has light reflecting pigments which evens out the complexion and has a natural appearance. I would also recommend using a lighter foundation on areas where you have more fines lines as it will blur their appearance but again only go in with a light layer!

CONCEALER
When it comes to concealer on mature skin I would tell you to completely avoid it if you can! Concealer's are formulated to cover a multitude so are normally fairly thick which then makes thena  nightmare when it comes to fine lines as they just love to set in there and make a mess! If you are adamant you want to use one though I would go with the Vichy Dermablend Corrector Stick as Vichy is formulated to be used on more mature skin and will not crease as bad as most other concealers.

POWDER
Once again as your skin becomes older it becomes drier so again I would tell you to avoid a powder unless your skin is oily and sheds makeup quickly throughout the day! Powders are pretty much universal in their quality so the only thing I will recommend is to get a translucent one and just apply it to your T-Zone (forehead, nose, upper lip and chin) as that is the only part of your face makeup should tend to move! You can also apply this a few times throughout the day to keep your makeup in place and keep any oil at bay!

Skin Essentials for All Skin Types and Issues! Part 2: Oily Skin

There are a million and one products out there for people with oily skin, all claiming they have the answer to dry up your face like a Sahara! But as always not all of them work like they say they will, so once again I'm here to save the day and your face!

CLEANSER
The purity one step daily facial cleanser from philosophy is an award winning product for a reason! It removes the makeup, cleanses, tones and lightly hydrates the skin. It rapidly dissolves makeup, dirt and oil to clear out pores and leave your skin feeling fresh as a daisy. It's also gentle enough to use on the eyes so this really is the perfect product to use if you are in a rush! You can pick it up in Boots for €11.
TONER
The Boots Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Toning Lotion is excellent for oily skin that is feeling congested. Witch Hazel acts as an astringent which draws impurities from your skin and Tea Tree is excellent to treat spots and acne! This toner really gets in there and strips your skin ( in a good way) so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who doesn't have congested skin. You can pick it up in Boots for €4.79.

MOISTURISER
The Super facialist Rose Hydrate Radiance Day Cream is perfect for someone with oily skin who just needs a light moisturiser to seal in hydration. Day creams are always best for people with oily skin as they are normally lighter in consistency so aren't going to clog the pores more than they already are! Once you've used your cleanser and toner this is just perfect to leave your skin feeling supple and not stripped. You can pick it up in Boots for €16.99.

EXFOLIATOR
For you oily skinned guys and gals a good exfoliator should be your best friend! It's really whats going to freshen your skin and remove all that pesky oil. Soap and Glory's The Greatest Scrub of All is my all time favourite! This scrub can be used on almost every skin type but for very oily and congested skin I would recommend using it 2-3 times a week! A lot of scrubs made for people with oily skin can be too harsh but using a softer scrub more often works out better for your skin in the long run! You can pick this up at Boots for €12.25!
MASKS
Elizabeth Arden is a brand that has really been tried and tested throughout the years and there's a reason she's still around! The Visible Difference Peel and Reveal Revitalizing Mask is a real treat for the skin and really helps reduce the appearance of large pores which is an issue for anyone with oily skin! It takes about 15-20 minutes to fully set before you take it off so it's perfect to be used to have some you time as well! Win win! Pick it up in Boots for €37.

All products mentioned can be found on Boots.ie ! As always if you have any questions or queries don't be afraid to ask! I'm always available on my Instagram: missneumeister, my Facebook:Trendy Irish Gal and my Twitter: MissNeumeister .

Makeup Essentials for All Skin Types and Issues! Part 2: Oily Skin!

The struggle is real for all you ladies out there with oily skin. Makeup just doesn't want to stay on your face but I think with a LOT of investigation I've found the best products out there to keep you lovely girls looking fresh and matte!

PRIMER
Makeup Forever has really come through when it comes to all our primer needs and it's no different for you oily lassies! Their Step1 mattifying primer is the answer to all your unwanted shine, it fights oil all day long to keep you looking matte! It contains sebustop vegetel complex which is a mineral oil which actually suppresses the natural oil on your face but keeps your skin looking fresh and not flat, win win! It also has blurring qualities which will help minimize pores, yay! €33 is a bit of a bummer but it works and a little goes a hella long way!

FOUNDATION
When it comes to foundation, if you have oily skin and don't use Revlon ColorStay then what are you doing with your life! ColorStay has been around for years as Revlon's best selling product and there's a reason why! A lot of foundations aren't formulated to deal with the oil our skin produces so our oils melt through the foundation throughout the day ruining all our precious work. ColorStay on the other hand is made to absorb the oils your skin produces, so it just adds a subtle glow throughout the day rather than an oil slick for only €17.79.

CONCEALER
Oh concealer! How you love to smudge and crease and fall half way down our leg, but we need you why you do this!? As I mentioned in my post Makeup Essentials for All Skin Types and Issues! Part 1: Dry Skin with Redness! my favorite concealer for all skin types is Mac Pro Longwear! As it says in the name this concealer lasts all day without fail on any skin type, a bold statement to make but I stand by it! It's lightweight and provides a medium to full coverage with a comfortable matte finish. I bought a little bottle of this about a year and a half ago and I'm still using it today so for €21 it's well worth it! I'm not the type to be sparing it either!

POWDER
With this trio of primer, foundation and concealer I say who even needs a powder but lets be real we all do. Benefit's Hello Flawless powder is technically a powder foundation but it perfect for setting oily skin for an all day matte feeling and awesome coverage! It has a really silky formula which I love in a powder cause it means no hard pan (ew) and feels great when your applying it! Available for €35 at all Benefit counters and online!

Skincare Essentials For All Skin Types and Issues! Part 1: Normal Skin with Redness/Sensitivity! (Current Skincare Routine)

There are many ways to help reduce facial redness! Redness can be caused by a lot of different things but normally it's because your skin is sensitive so I would always recommend to use products for sensitive skin which is why this post is going to cover both problems! It's also my current Skincare Routine if anyone is wondering!

Exfoliating
When it comes to exfoliating with red and sensitive skin I would recommend not to as mostly it will just irritate the skin more making it appear even redder. Although sometimes when my skin isn't looking the best I will reach for the VMV hypoallergenics mild mannered cleansing scrub! This is specially designed for skin that is easily irritated so it perfect to smooth it out on those dull days we all have!

  Cleansing
The current cleanser I've been using is the L'oreal Plenitude Re-Nourish Cleansing Milk and it's perfect for my sensitive skin. I picked this up in Boots recently for an amazing €3.33 and it removes my makeup excellently and leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed.

Toning
Like my current cleanser, my current Toner is from L'oreal and it's their Skin Perfection Velvety Soft Toner! The name does not tell a word of a lie as this toner feels super soft on the skin and leaves your skin feeling amazing! Again for an amazingly cheap price of €3.53, so I think there is no harm in picking this product up and giving it a go.

Moisturising
Moisturiser is so important for us gals with sensitive/red skin as it soothes and calms the skin after cleaning, which is exactly what our skin needs! My personal favorite when it comes to moisturiser is Simple and I really don't mind which one as they are all equally great! The one I'm currently using is the Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser, this little baby really does keep your skin feeling supple all day long and is a perfect base for your makeup too at an awesome €3.86 in Boots.

Eye-Cream
I love a good eye-cream, as even though i'm young I tend to get dark circles. Keeping around your eyes moisturised is really important if you're going to wear makeup around them as it's one place it will tend to crack if it's not soft. Although this is true, if you put too much moisture around your eye, makeup won't sit properly and it will slide off. This is why you need an eye-cream and it is not enough to just use a thick moisturiser around your eye! The one I recommend and am currently using is the Simple Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On as I've found it's really helped to diminish my dark circles and brighten up my eyes! It's currently €4.99 in Boots!

Masks
My all time favorite masks are from Quick Fix Facials! They have a tone of different ones for whatever your skin issue may be but for sensitive and red skin I use the Brightening Peel Mask once/twice a week and find I can't live without it anymore! It brightens my skin and helps diminish my uneven redness, win win! It's only €4.33 in Boots and you'll get 10 masks out of it which is great! I really couldn't recommend this brand anymore if I tried so really all it takes is for you to go try it now!

Makeup Essentials for All Skin Types and Issues! Part 1: Normal Skin with Redness!

Makeup can be tricky business when trying to find products that really work and do what you want them to do. Having been playing around with it for the last 21 years I feel like I have a good grasp on what actually does what it says on the tin, as cliche as that sounds. I personally have normal skin so I'm going to start there, it's not oily and only dry very rarely but I do get quite intense redness so we will touch on that too! I will also be compiling a skincare post to go along with this cause I firmly believe without a good skincare regime your makeup is never going to look its best!

PRIMER
L'oreal's Magic Lumi primer is amazing for skin that needs to look that little bit more dewy and alive. Normal skin can start to look flat if you try to achieve too much of a matte finish, but I know when you don't go for a matte finish sometimes makeup can slide but with Magic Lumi I find it helps hold my makeup in place all day with a little help from a nice powder of course! €14.99 in all good Pharmacy's and Boots stores across the country.

                                                                                   FOUNDATION
The foundation I am currently using and loving is the Rimmel Match Perfection in Light Porcelain. I bought this on a whim cause I had run out of foundation and had never heard anything about it so wasn't expecting much. It is what I would describe as a light to medium coverage and for people with normal skin this is plenty for an everyday basis.

CONCEALER
If you have normal skin like me you will more than likely have dark circles from time to time as with most skin types. Mac Pro Longwear Concealer is the perfect solution to this, it is the only concealer I can count on to completely cover my under eyes and it won't crease. For €23 it is pretty expensive but 1 bottle lasts me a whole year as a little bit goes so far, so it's really a bargain! Pick some up in Brown Thomas stores around the country.

POWDER
L'oreal's True Match Powder is an absolute dream to use, it comes in a variety of shades so can add some extra coverage if that's what you want it to do. It really does leave you with a flawless finish that won't have your face looking cakey or flat. At €10.49 in good pharmacy's or Boots Stores across the country I think it's an absolute steal.

REDNESS
Throughout my teenage years redness was a major problem in my life, and of course I decided a foundation 5 shades to dark for my skin tone was the way to go. Now that I'm no longer a teenager my redness has decided to calm down slightly but it still is pretty prevalent in my day to day life. I have found a few things that have helped so wanted to share them with you! Once again there will be a skincare post on normal skin and redness as well as I believe a good routine has helped massively, but here are my makeup saviors for days when I can't control it.

HIGH COVERAGE FOUNDATION
High coverage foundation used to be something I used daily but there is really no need for it when I don't have anything major to cover up. Estee Lauders Double Wear is perfect when heading out for a dance and you need to keep the tomato face at bay. This little baby will set you back around €38 depending on where you pick it up and if you're just using it whenever you need that extra bit of coverage it will do you absolutely ages.

GREEN PRIMERS/CREAMS
Green creams have been a big thing for a long time but recently every company I can think of has come out with one in some shape or form! Makeup Forever came out with their Skin Equalizer Primer which comes in many different types for all skin types and they have a redness correcting one also and it works really well! It makes your whole face appear a lot paler but that's not necessarily a bad thing when you're going to be applying a foundation over it anyway! It retails for €33 and can be bought online and in the Makeup forever store in Dublin. We all know of Catrice, that super cheap brand you can buy in pennys and you'll be delighted to know they have an amazing green cream! It's small but come's in a pallete with 4 other concealers, which includes a pinky tone one which is perfect for concealing dark circles! Double whammy, Go Catrice! And the cost, well they've only gone and only charged €3-4 depending on where you buy it!

The Return of The 90s!

Whether we like it or not the trends that ruled the 90s are now back in full swing and to be honest I'm loving it. From runway to penny's to every make-up company you can possibly think of, everyone is getting their scrunchy and brown lippy out and I'm here to show you how to rock it without looking like a "Clueless" wannabe..!

Iconic 90s make-up consisted of strong black liner, a very matte face and brown lippy of course which today are things we all are seriously lusting after once again. Here are just some of the products I would recommend to get you started:

I must say for €4.99 Rimmel's Soft Khol Kajal Eye Pencil is an absolute must have for every 90s chick. For such an affordable price this eye pencil has great pigment and lasting power. And to really make your eyes pop or look a little like black holes....The Maybelline Great Lash Mascara at only €7.49 was an absolute cult classic in the 90s and there's a reason it's still around now!

Dewy looks were not a thing of the 90s and having a shiny face was never something I lusted after anyway so I'm glad to see that matt looks are coming back with a bang. And for the ultimate powdered face I recommend Max Factor Creme Puff Pressed Powder €6.99, I guarantee you've all seen it in your mother or stylish aunts makeup bag and that's because yet again it was a major cult classic in the 90s that is still widely loved by some of the best make up artists around today.

And lastly is the most important make up item in bringing back your 90s flare, the brown lip. Once again when it came to the brown lip it had to be matt and if you go to anywhere that sells make up today you will be able to find an array of matt brown lipsticks and lipliners! Cause lip liners also made a huge comeback in case you were wondering! But I will recommend two of my absolute fav's for the fun of it! The lipstick is MDM's Flow Lipstick in Bossy for €16.32 which you can purchase on nastygal.com ( my favourite website) and the liner is The body shops Beech lip liner.

If you need any more inspiration for your 90s make up Miss Kylie Jenner normally has it to a T in my opinion like everything else in her fabulous life! Also please come back tomorrow when I tell you what glorious outfit to pair with your now stunning 90s make up look!

xoxo,
Trendy Irish Gal
