Skincare Essentials For All Skin Types and Issues! Part 1: Normal Skin with Redness/Sensitivity! (Current Skincare Routine)

There are many ways to help reduce facial redness! Redness can be caused by a lot of different things but normally it's because your skin is sensitive so I would always recommend to use products for sensitive skin which is why this post is going to cover both problems! It's also my current Skincare Routine if anyone is wondering!

Exfoliating
When it comes to exfoliating with red and sensitive skin I would recommend not to as mostly it will just irritate the skin more making it appear even redder. Although sometimes when my skin isn't looking the best I will reach for the VMV hypoallergenics mild mannered cleansing scrub! This is specially designed for skin that is easily irritated so it perfect to smooth it out on those dull days we all have!

  Cleansing
The current cleanser I've been using is the L'oreal Plenitude Re-Nourish Cleansing Milk and it's perfect for my sensitive skin. I picked this up in Boots recently for an amazing €3.33 and it removes my makeup excellently and leaves my skin feeling smooth and refreshed.

Toning
Like my current cleanser, my current Toner is from L'oreal and it's their Skin Perfection Velvety Soft Toner! The name does not tell a word of a lie as this toner feels super soft on the skin and leaves your skin feeling amazing! Again for an amazingly cheap price of €3.53, so I think there is no harm in picking this product up and giving it a go.

Moisturising
Moisturiser is so important for us gals with sensitive/red skin as it soothes and calms the skin after cleaning, which is exactly what our skin needs! My personal favorite when it comes to moisturiser is Simple and I really don't mind which one as they are all equally great! The one I'm currently using is the Kind To Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser, this little baby really does keep your skin feeling supple all day long and is a perfect base for your makeup too at an awesome €3.86 in Boots.

Eye-Cream
I love a good eye-cream, as even though i'm young I tend to get dark circles. Keeping around your eyes moisturised is really important if you're going to wear makeup around them as it's one place it will tend to crack if it's not soft. Although this is true, if you put too much moisture around your eye, makeup won't sit properly and it will slide off. This is why you need an eye-cream and it is not enough to just use a thick moisturiser around your eye! The one I recommend and am currently using is the Simple Kind To Eyes Revitalising Eye Roll-On as I've found it's really helped to diminish my dark circles and brighten up my eyes! It's currently €4.99 in Boots!

Masks
My all time favorite masks are from Quick Fix Facials! They have a tone of different ones for whatever your skin issue may be but for sensitive and red skin I use the Brightening Peel Mask once/twice a week and find I can't live without it anymore! It brightens my skin and helps diminish my uneven redness, win win! It's only €4.33 in Boots and you'll get 10 masks out of it which is great! I really couldn't recommend this brand anymore if I tried so really all it takes is for you to go try it now!

Trainers!

So over the years I've never been into wearing trainers but lately I literally wear my nikes with everything I put on and have been loving the chic comfort of it all! I will wear my 'runners' with everything so just want to show you some gorgeous ones I've found online and are all going on my wish list!

I normally always buy black shoes as I wear black clothes everyday so when I spotted these on Nikes website I instantly fell in love. They are currently on sale for a heartbreaking €140, so worth it though!

Next pair are also Nike as i think they make simply beautiful shoes, these are a lot more colorful but could still be worn with most outfits. They are currently reduced to €74.99 which either means I've extremely bad taste or other people have none but I love them!

These pair from Penny's are not the prettiest in the world but I had to mention them as they are the most comfortable shoe's I've ever worn in my life and for the crazy price of €10 they are a must buy in my eyes.

For my last pair I'm mentioning I wanted to pick something trendy but that also affordable at the moment so found these beauties on JD Sports website reduced to €45. Now some may think these are a bit much but for me with an all black outfit I think these would be utter perfection so if you're feeling edgy give them a go!

Slimming World Begins Again! With Chicken Curry Recipe!

So yet another month has rolled around after new years which seems like yesterday and I still haven't got my arse in to gear! As of 6 days ago anyway! My slimming world journey began again and I'm really excited and feeling confident to give it another go, like I was every other time before! In the last 6 days my scales are telling me I have lost 3 pounds which of course I am over the moon about! This has happened every time I started my journey and I feel like this time I need something else to keep me on track which is exactly why I'm going to start blogging about it! This is the first one so hopefully it won't be too terrible and you'll come back for more.

Instead of doing a day 1, day 2 kind of scenario I'm going to tell you every couple of days how much weight I've lost, what I'm loving at the moment and a new recipe for you to try out at home. Of course I will talk about my struggles and times I've went a small bit off plan cause I know those days will come and there's no point pretending we live in a perfect world now is there.

The first thing I want to give a mention to are Fibre One Brownies, I know when trying to lose weight I need to include a lot of Fibre in my diet to keep things moving along, if you know what I mean! These little brownies only have 4.5 syns in them, contain 5 grams of fibre and taste pretty amazing in my opinion! I eat one daily, enjoy it, and it aids my weight loss! Win Win! You can get them in Dunnes and Tesco for €3.99 a box.

I found this little chart on pinterest so decided to just stick it in here because I have been finding it super helpful ever since! It's just a breakdown of what syn value to give things going on their calories, now this is mainly for chocolate, sweets and crisps but if you are ever in doubt about something that isn't in one of these categories it's still a helpful guide to give you a rough idea!

RECIPE
The recipe I have decided to include in this post is Chicken Curry, just in time for the weekend and all! I made this last night and thought it tasted absolutely gorgeous, with this recipe I use a butternut squash soup as the base so I'll be describing how to make that too cause it's absolutely gorgeous to eat for lunch or whenever and completely syn free!

So for the butternut squash soup you'll need:

1 whole Butternut Squash
6 Carrots
1 Large onion
4 sticks of celery
2 cloves of garlic
2 chicken stock cubes
water
Low calorie cooking spray

To make the soup:

1) Add some Low calorie cooking spray to a deep pot and add the chopped onion and chopped butternut squash to it and let fry for 2 minutes.

2)Then add your carrots, celery, garlic and stock cubes with just enough water to cover!

3) Let it simmer for 45-50 minutes and then blend to smooth consistency with hand blender.

For the curry you'll need:

500 ml of butternut squash soup (or however much sauce you want)
4 chicken breasts
1 onion
2 tbsp of mild curry powder
1 tsp of Garam Masala spice blend
Low cal cooking spray

To make the curry:

1) Spray deep frying pan with low calorie cooking spray, then add chicken and onion to pan and fry until brown.

2) Add in your curry powder and garam masala, stir.

3) Add in your butternut squash soup and mix everything together. Let simmer for 10 minutes.

4) Serve with rice, chips and speedy veg if you wish.

I hope you all really enjoyed this post on my slimming world journey! If you ever have any questions about Slimming World or anything I talk about on here please don't be afraid to ask! Either comment it underneath or get in contact on Twitter or Instagram!

Makeup Essentials for All Skin Types and Issues! Part 1: Normal Skin with Redness!

Makeup can be tricky business when trying to find products that really work and do what you want them to do. Having been playing around with it for the last 21 years I feel like I have a good grasp on what actually does what it says on the tin, as cliche as that sounds. I personally have normal skin so I'm going to start there, it's not oily and only dry very rarely but I do get quite intense redness so we will touch on that too! I will also be compiling a skincare post to go along with this cause I firmly believe without a good skincare regime your makeup is never going to look its best!

PRIMER
L'oreal's Magic Lumi primer is amazing for skin that needs to look that little bit more dewy and alive. Normal skin can start to look flat if you try to achieve too much of a matte finish, but I know when you don't go for a matte finish sometimes makeup can slide but with Magic Lumi I find it helps hold my makeup in place all day with a little help from a nice powder of course! €14.99 in all good Pharmacy's and Boots stores across the country.

                                                                                   FOUNDATION
The foundation I am currently using and loving is the Rimmel Match Perfection in Light Porcelain. I bought this on a whim cause I had run out of foundation and had never heard anything about it so wasn't expecting much. It is what I would describe as a light to medium coverage and for people with normal skin this is plenty for an everyday basis.

CONCEALER
If you have normal skin like me you will more than likely have dark circles from time to time as with most skin types. Mac Pro Longwear Concealer is the perfect solution to this, it is the only concealer I can count on to completely cover my under eyes and it won't crease. For €23 it is pretty expensive but 1 bottle lasts me a whole year as a little bit goes so far, so it's really a bargain! Pick some up in Brown Thomas stores around the country.

POWDER
L'oreal's True Match Powder is an absolute dream to use, it comes in a variety of shades so can add some extra coverage if that's what you want it to do. It really does leave you with a flawless finish that won't have your face looking cakey or flat. At €10.49 in good pharmacy's or Boots Stores across the country I think it's an absolute steal.

REDNESS
Throughout my teenage years redness was a major problem in my life, and of course I decided a foundation 5 shades to dark for my skin tone was the way to go. Now that I'm no longer a teenager my redness has decided to calm down slightly but it still is pretty prevalent in my day to day life. I have found a few things that have helped so wanted to share them with you! Once again there will be a skincare post on normal skin and redness as well as I believe a good routine has helped massively, but here are my makeup saviors for days when I can't control it.

HIGH COVERAGE FOUNDATION
High coverage foundation used to be something I used daily but there is really no need for it when I don't have anything major to cover up. Estee Lauders Double Wear is perfect when heading out for a dance and you need to keep the tomato face at bay. This little baby will set you back around €38 depending on where you pick it up and if you're just using it whenever you need that extra bit of coverage it will do you absolutely ages.

GREEN PRIMERS/CREAMS
Green creams have been a big thing for a long time but recently every company I can think of has come out with one in some shape or form! Makeup Forever came out with their Skin Equalizer Primer which comes in many different types for all skin types and they have a redness correcting one also and it works really well! It makes your whole face appear a lot paler but that's not necessarily a bad thing when you're going to be applying a foundation over it anyway! It retails for €33 and can be bought online and in the Makeup forever store in Dublin. We all know of Catrice, that super cheap brand you can buy in pennys and you'll be delighted to know they have an amazing green cream! It's small but come's in a pallete with 4 other concealers, which includes a pinky tone one which is perfect for concealing dark circles! Double whammy, Go Catrice! And the cost, well they've only gone and only charged €3-4 depending on where you buy it!

Bombers: How to wear them and Where to get them!

I love jackets! Funny statement to start with but I really really do, I have a collection that seems to grow every time I hit the high street. Bombers are no exception to my love and happen to be my very favorite trend at the moment and can't wait to add a few more to my wardrobe!
When trawling through the various online spots I hit on a daily there were just WAY too many to choose from so I've whittled it down to 3, which in my opinion can all be worn in completely different ways and of course I'll explain how cause I'm lovely like that.

River Island like they always do had a glorious selection to choose from but I picked one that is rather simple but has gorgeous lace detailing! I wear absolutely everything with black jeans, so like it's shown on the model is exactly how I would style it, with a white cami underneath and your favorite pair of amazing black heels! Casual night out DONE! €60.

Zara I must say had a brilliant selection of bombers also and once again I found it very hard to choose! Now this particular one I tried on in store and loved it and should have taken a pick of it on....but I'm not loving the picture on the website but take my word for it it's gorgeous! Perfect to be worn with white jeans and a cami in whatever color you want to pull from the bomber itself be it yellow, green, pink, red, whatever but I would recommend a bit of tan if you're a fair lass like myself as it could wash you out a smidge. €39.95

This last one is very out there and I absolutely fell in love when I saw it online, so was heartbroken to see it's €140 (Topshop) so definitely not in my budget for the foreseeable future but if you can get your hands on this beauty it's an absolute staple in my eyes and will never go out of style! I'm sure some of you hate it! I would rock this on a night out with again black skinnies and a complete black outfit or amazing pink stilettos if you're feeling super crazy but I just love this and feel like it's an amazing one to finish on!

We've covered 3 looks here from casual to dinner with friends to completely out on the razz and I love them all equally! Now off I go to say goodbye to all my money! Hope you enjoyed,

xoxo,
Trendy Irish Gal
